Congratulations to University of Denver Sturm College of Law Associate Dean of Institutional Diversity and Inclusiveness and Professor Catherine Smith; alumna, immigration attorney and founder of Colorado Asylum Center, Christina Brown, JD’13; and Denver Law student, Hayden DePorter, 2L, on receiving honors at the 2019 Colorado LGBT Bar Association Awards and Scholarship Dinner.
In order to help graduates start their own law practice and build a solid foundation for a successful career, the University of Denver Sturm College of Law created the Solo Practice Grant Program in 2013 in partnership with the innovative, shared workspace for lawyers, LawBank.
The student-nominated awards focus on faculty members who have made an impact on students’ career and professional development path. More than 230 faculty members were nominated by students, with many receiving multiple nominations.
The University of Denver Sturm College of Law will recognize its 2019 Law Stars honorees at a gala event on Wednesday, Oct. 23 at the Hyatt Convention Center.
Denver Law Professor K.K. DuVivier has been named as The Rocky Mountain Mineral Law Foundation 2019 Clyde O. Martz Teaching Award winner.
The 2019 award for distinguished teaching goes to Debra Austin, professor of practice at the Sturm College of Law, where her contributions are credited with elevating DU’s Lawyering Process Program into the U.S. News Top 10 Legal Writing Programs.
