Clinical Programs Application

Applying to Denver Law's Clinical Programs

Applications open 9:00 a.m., Monday, March 13th and close at 11:59 p.m., Sunday, March 19th, 2023

As student attorneys in the Sturm College of Law's Clinical Program, you will be required to abide by the professional responsibility rules that govern all practicing lawyers. Given the intensive time commitment of the clinic and the potential for ethical conflicts of interest, students are not allowed to participate in a clinic and an externship, internship, or any other experiential advantage courses, including practicums, labs, and any other client work, simultaneously. By signing this application, you are acknowledging and confirming that you understand that you cannot participate in an internship, externship, or any other experiential advantage course, including practicums, labs, or any other client work, if you are accepted into a clinic.

Working during the time you are enrolled in the clinic is strongly discouraged because of the potential for ethical conflicts of interest and because of the heavy workload. However, we are aware that some students may need to work. If that is the case, please be sure to discuss this with your supervisor. Additionally, if you are working at a legal job you will need to provide the clinic the information necessary for us to ensure there are no conflicts of interest with clinic clients. You will need to disclose your clinic work to your employer. If a conflict arises, there is a presumption that the conflict will be resolved to the benefit of the clinic client. Thus, there is a risk that you may have to withdraw from the clinic or discontinue working for your employer.

Follow These Easy Steps to Apply

Step One - Complete Conflict of Interest Form

Your application will be considered incomplete if a Conflict of Interest form is not completed and submitted.

Step 2 - Apply to Your First Choice Clinic

Please apply to your first choice clinic from the above list.
