On January 24 and 25, over 80 teams around the country competed in four virtual regional competitions as part of the American Bar Association (ABA) Representation in Mediation Competition. The Denver Regional Competition was held at the Sturm College of Law, and brought together twenty teams from eleven different law schools.

As part of this ABA mediation advocacy competition, law student teams perform simulations with a professional mediator and are judged on their combined use of advocacy, problem solving, negotiation, and client counseling skills.

After three rounds of competition over the two days, the Sturm College of Law team of 3L Bex Stephens and 2L Scott Wolf emerged victorious, taking first place and earning a spot at the National ABA Representation in Mediation Competition, hosted by Chapman University Fowler School of Law in Orange, California, from March 27-29.

Schools in each region fluctuate from year to year, and the top two teams from each region advance to nationals. This year, the second place team in the Denver competition came from the University of the Pacific McGeorge School of Law; DU and McGeorge will compete with the other six pairs of top-two teams from the other regional competitions at nationals.

Congratulations to Stephens and Wolf, our regional champions!
