Life in the “Mile High City”

About DU Law Panoramic DenverYou’ll hear the number often—5280. That’s how many feet above sea level the city of Denver sits, hence the moniker “Mile High City.” The city is a perfect blend of Old West charm, modern sensibilities and world-class recreation, boasting more than 40 museums and historic attractions, including the amazing Daniel Liebinskind-designed Denver Art Museum wing. Denver is also home to the nation’s largest park system with more than 200 parks greening the metro area.

Denver OverviewThe University of Denver Sturm College of Law is located near downtown Denver in an area known as University Park (watch the video to the right to learn how DU connects with the City of Denver). Just a quick hop on I-25 South from downtown takes you to campus—in between you’ll find countless pocket neighborhoods with cafés and boutiques galore, as well as one of the crown jewels in Denver’s park system, Washington Park, which is just a short walk from the DU campus.

Diversity isn’t simply a trendy word used to market the city of Denver. Here, diverse people, events, art, music and culinary delights come together in an environment known for its unparalleled beauty. People from all walks of life are attracted to the city’s rich cultural offerings, its abundant sunshine* and year-round recreational opportunities. About DU Law - NightlifePublic transportation is widely used in Denver, and we are immensely proud of our extensive, nationally recognized light rail and bus system. Many Denverites choose to take advantage of RTD (the bus line) and Light Rail for their transportation needs. The Southeast corridor, which stops just blocks from the law school, makes it easy for DU students to get to class from virtually anywhere in the metro area. Scooters are also very popular in the Denver—even our very own Governor Hickenlooper drives one!
