Professional Biography

Sondra Smith began teaching in the MSLA program in 2006. Sondra teaches the following courses on campus: Law Firm Administration, Law Firm Information Technology, Communications for the Legal Administrator and Financial Management for the Legal Administrator. She also teaches the online Financial Management for the Legal Administrator course for the MSLA program.

Sondra has over 20 years of legal administration experience, in both the law firm and corporate legal department environment. She has been with Level 3 Communications for over five years managing their legal team. She has extensive experience with the implementation of accounting, billing, case and matter management systems as well as the coordination of all information technology systems required to run a law firm or legal department. Sondra has a broad background in budget preparation, financial and productivity analysis as well as trust account management and collection of accounts receivable.

Sondra has spent a great deal of her career in the management of human resources, including hiring, firing, performance management, coaching, ongoing training, counseling, mentoring, compensation systems and the benefits administration required to successfully retain a law firms most valuable resource it's people.

Sondra is a Denver native and active in community and volunteer efforts. She has been a member of the Association of Legal Administrators since 1986, a member of ARMA since 2004, a member of Women in Cable Telecommunications since 2007 and a member of the Women's Vision Foundation since 2009. Sondra regularly organizes volunteer events through United Way's Day of Caring, Habitat for Humanity and for the Boulder County Open Space Parks Department.
