The Office of the
Registrar handles all aspects of registration and is the official
custodian of all student academic records. The five-member team
administers the academic policies of the Law School to ensure
proper interpretation and understanding. The office sections newly
matriculated first year students and participates in the student
orientation session each fall. The office also assists with commencement
preparation and the graduation process. In addition to registration
activities, the office counsels students concerning their academic
progress and recommends academic probation and academic dismissal.
The Registrar's staff is responsible for administering all aspects
of final examinations, maintaining the system of blind grading,
and the entry of all grades. Most faculty rely on the office to
administer their exams.
Additionally, the office provides students and alumni with transcripts, various certifications, verifications, correspondence and deferments on a daily basis. Faculty, staff and administrators are provided with data for reports and planning, such as the preparation of the annual ABA Questionnaire and statistics regarding graduate performance on the semi-annual Colorado bar examinations. The Law School is the only school within the University that provides student ranking, which is published annually by this office. The registrar and staff recommend the top 10% of graduating students for induction in the Order of St. Ives. Scholastic Excellence Awards are generated by Office of the Registrar to the top performers in selected courses. This office has also been administering the system for taking laptop exams. Approximately 20% of students taking in-class essay exams now use laptops. The number is expected to increase.
