Bar Examination Preparation – General Information

The College of Law wants every student to pass the bar. Here is some information and options you should consider regarding passing the bar.

Your grade point average is the most reliable predictor of bar passage success. Monitor your grade point average and continually seek feedback from faculty about your exam performance.

Plan on taking Advanced Legal Analysis in your final semester. It’s a great opportunity to practice the analytical and communicative skills necessary for success on the bar exam and as a practitioner. Faculty will also teach bar preparation strategy workshops. These workshops are at no cost and for no credit. Watch for the announcement of these classes.

You should take a commercial bar preparation class. The Colorado Supreme Court provides a list of commercial course offerings in Colorado Note: Being a member of the American Bar Association may provide a discount for some commercial bar review programs.

Please make an appointment with Financial Management to discuss your situation if you are unable to afford bar preparation courses.

Alumni mentors are available to coach and support bar takers. Some of the specialty bars offer bar assistance and coaching as well.

Plan in advance to spend 8-10 weeks preparing and practicing to take and pass your bar exam (approximately 50-60 hours per week). It is your first full-time law “job” upon graduation.

Not every option is right for every person. Students need to assess which options will be most helpful to them. Bar exam information will continue to be posted on the web site.
