Tom Rodgers O-tee-paym-soo-wuk Ethics in Government Stipend

The Tom Rodgers O-tee-paym-soo-wuk Ethics in Government Stipend provides a $50,000 living stipend to one incoming student of Native American descent who demonstrates academic merit, financial need and a commitment to continued engagement with the Native American community.

In addition to the living stipend, the recipient will also receive a full-tuition Robert Yegge Scholarship from the Denver Law.

Award Information

  • A $14,000 living stipend per academic year, renewed for up to three years.
  • Includes an unpaid, summer internship with Tom Rodgers in Washington, DC, after the completion of the first year. A summer living stipend of $4,000 will be provided through this award.
  • An additional $4,000 stipend is available for the summer after the second year, provided that the student completes a summer position doing legal work or research.

Application Process

The Tom Rodgers Ethics in Government Stipend requires an additional application that has a priority deadline of March 1st.

Students should apply for admission to Denver Law, first, and then submit a separate application for the Tom Rodgers Ethics in Government Stipend. We recommend completing your application for admission by February 1st.

To apply, please submit the following documents:

1. Tom Rodgers Ethics in Government Stipend Application
2. An essay, of not more than two pages, describing your background and experience, emphasizing your commitment to the Native American community.

Submission instructions: The essay and can be uploaded to your Application and both items can be submitted online.

Please Note: In order to qualify for this stipend, you must be an enrolled member of a US federally recognized American Indian tribe or Alaskan Native group, or possess 1/4 degree Indian blood.

The scholarship committee will consider academic achievement in addition to life and work experience. Applicants will also be evaluated on their ability to successfully carry a full academic load and to fulfill the requirements of the program.
