Denver Law Students Visiting Another School

Students enrolled at Denver Law may, upon approval, enroll as visiting students at another ABA approved law program for a semester or an academic year.

Students are eligible to receive Perkins loans, Stafford loans, Graduate PLUS loans, private loans and private scholarships (if permissible by donor) while on consortium. Students may not participate in Federal Work-Study or receive a disbursement of institutional scholarships and grants for costs incurred at the visiting school.

In order to be eligible for financial aid, consortium students must complete a Consortium Agreement Form. Once the agreement is processed, financial aid may disburse to the student’s account, at the earliest, 10 days prior to the start of each DU semester.

Consortium students will receive a refund for their financial aid from the Bursar’s Office, and they are responsible for paying the bill at the visiting school. If a student would like to request that DU pay their host school prior to releasing a refund, he or she needs to provide a bill from the host school to the Office of Financial Aid.

  • Consortium Agreements can be submitted to the Office of Financial Aid at:

Students Visiting Denver Law

Financial Aid for visiting students is provided by the student’s home school and not Denver Law. If you are looking to obtain federal aid for the semester(s) you will enroll at Denver Law, you should follow these steps:

  1. Submit a FAFSA to your home school, not Denver Law. Denver Law cannot process any federal aid for you.
  2. Complete a Consortium Agreement, contact your home school to obtain this form.
    • Forms can be mailed, emailed or faxed to the Office of Financial Aid for completion:

      fax: 303.871.2341

  3. The Office of Financial Aid will determine your Cost of Attendance based on your expected enrollment
  4. Your home school will use the Cost of Attendance to determine your financial aid eligibility and will disburse your federal financial aid
  5. You are responsible for making sure that your bill with the University of Denver is paid.
    • Many schools disburse financial aid funds directly to the student, in which case you would need to pay your bill at Denver Law with those funds. Other schools may pay the Denver Law bill for you and only disburse the amount you have borrowed for living expenses. Either way, be sure to monitor your account to make sure your bill get paid.
