International Legal Studies

Message from Program Director

Ved NandaGreetings! I invite you to join us in the International Legal Studies Program and the Nanda Center at the Sturm College of Law. I am humbled by the honor bestowed by my good friends in establishing the Nanda Center, but the real credit for the achievements of the International Legal Studies Program goes to so many students over the years who have shared their lives with us as they pursued an education in international law.

Some of the best and most creative minds in international law have graced our school-not only as visiting experts, but also as students newly embarking on their careers. We all recognize that the world of today urgently needs innovative thinkers with wide-ranging solutions to global problems. We also know that international law has its own unique issues and challenges and is one of the most fascinating and interesting areas of concentration for building tomorrow’s legal landscape.

I am extremely proud of my distinguished faculty colleagues, a group of excellent scholars who have been leaders across the fields of human rights, the environment, business and trade, and various other aspects of public and private international law. The University of Denver also offers nationally and internationally ranked programs in business through the Daniels College of Business and in international relations at Josef Korbel School of International Studies, both of which draw numerous students from our program each year. And our graduates have reached great heights of accomplishment in their careers, thanks to the mentoring they receive from faculty and alumni and the experiences they were a part of during their international legal education at DU.

The College of Law and its International Legal Studies Program have built an incredible tradition over all these years, and it shows! Our pool of applicants constantly amazes us-they are bright, interested, and aware and I hope you will join them!
