Upcoming Commencement Ceremonies

May 2024 Commencement Ceremony

All December 2023, May 2024, and August 2024 graduates are invited to participate in the May 2024 Commencement Ceremony. Commencement is scheduled for 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 18, 2024, at the University of Denver’s Magness Arena. Commencement is expected to be concluded by 12:00 p.m. You will receive a “Save the Date” email from Student Affairs later in the Spring Semester to RSVP and order regalia (both are required if you plan to participate in the Commencement Ceremony).

There is no limit on guests and tickets are not required. Graduates may bring as many guests as they choose to the May Commencement Ceremony at Magness Arena. If any of your guests require accessibility needs, please contact Libby Fatta (lfatta@law.du.edu) for support.

The ceremony will be livestreamed for friends and family who cannot attend in-person. The livestream link will be provided to graduates (and available on this page) closer to the ceremony.

Regalia Details

Regalia is required for all graduates to wear at the Winter Commencement Ceremony. Information has been sent to all December graduates via email about ordering. Please email Amber Rux (arux@law.du.edu) ASAP if you have not ordered regalia.

Archived Information

A commencement "Save the Date" email was sent out to all upcoming graduates on March 16, 2022. You must RSVP using the link in the Save the Date email if you intend on walking at graduation!

Information about rental and purchase regalia was sent to all upcoming graduates. The deadline to order regalia has now PASSED. Please contact the Office of Student Affairs ASAP if you did not order regalia. It is required that all graduates wear regalia in order to participate in commencement.

Guests at Graduation: To comply with COVID-19 protocols, guests must perform a verbal symptom check to enter the Ritchie Center. Masks are currently not required. If anything changes regarding entry protocols, we will update you as soon as possible. Guests do not need tickets to enter the Ritchie Center. Graduates may invite as many guests as they wish. If any guests have questions regarding ADA needs, please contact Lauri Mlinar.

Regalia pick-up (Rental Regalia ONLY): Rental regalia pickup will be at the Sturm College of Law in Room 155. You must pick up your regalia either Thursday, May 19th from 3:30-6:30pm or Friday, May 20th from 9:30am-5:00pm. You must arrange for someone (who has campus access) to pick-up your regalia during this time if you are not able to do so.When to Arrive: The earliest graduates can arrive to Hamilton Gym is 8:30am. NO EARLIER. Main entrances for guests will open starting at 9:00am. Graduates must arrive to Hamilton Gym NO LATER than 9:30am. The procession will start without you if you are late.Campus Access Protocols: All graduates must keep their campus access updated! Visit PioneerWeb to check your campus access status. You do NOT need to wait until the next testing date shown on Pioneerweb. You can test now or a few days before graduation as long as you get a PCR test at DU and continue to be cleared for campus access.

Returning your Regalia (Rental Regalia ONLY): You must return your rental regalia following the Commencement Ceremony. Students have 1 hour to take pictures concluding the ceremony before returning their rental regalia to the Sturm College of Law. DO NOT LEAVE WITH YOUR RENTAL REGALIA. Returns must be dropped off in the hallway just outside room #155 (where you picked up your rental regalia). Don’t forget to take your Alumni pin off the robe before you return it!Parking: Free parking is available at all lots north of Evans Avenue on Commencement Day. (Lots 103/C, L, T, W and 108.) Parking for people with ADA placards is available in every lot on campus. On graduation day, the circular lot just north of the Ritchie Center and the Cable Center lot off Buchtel will both be reserved for guests with ADA placards. (Lots 311 and 314.)

2020 Virtual Commencement Ceremony

Regalia and Attire

Regalia for the Virtual 2020 Commencement Ceremony is not required. However, if you wish to purchase regalia for the ceremony or for professional purposes, please see the link below. The deadline for ordering 2020 Regalia is December 21st. Regalia will be available to rent through Jostens in our future in person commencement ceremony (TBD).

The tassel and alumni pins for graduates will be mailed to students no later than Thursday, December 17th, 2020. Please have your pin readily available during the ceremony. Students will be asked to pin themselves during this time.
