Class Notes from Winter/Spring 2014/2015


  • 1966: David Erickson
    David L. Erickson '66 is the author of Colorado Corporate Forms, a two volume 2000 page book on the organization and management of business and nonprofit entities, structuring business transactions, arbitration/mediation and law practice management. The publisher of the book, Westlaw a Thomson Reuters company, recently honored David for the thirty years his book has been in print and updated by him annually. Westlaw's acknowledgement stated that "Your commitment to excellence and willingness over the years to adapt to our changing production needs have resulted in a consistently superior and successful product and an exemplary author relationship."


  • 1973: Richard LaFond
    I have been selected as a 2015 Super Lawyer in the Civil Rights area. After 40 years of exclusively practicing Plaintiff's Civil Rights cases, I am now involved in my final case. Henceforth my practice will be exclusively representing Plaintiffs or Relators in False Claims Act (FCA) cases. The FCA originated under Abraham Lincoln, allowing individuals to bring fraud claims on behalf of the United States, if appropriate. Present circumstances, it appears, make such claims most appropriate.
  • 1973: Richard (Rick) Sites
    Rick Sites and several other Sturm Law alums were listed in "Who's Who in Energy, 2014-2015" issued by the American City Business Journals at Rick developed an energy and sustainability program for Ohio hospitals that has received several awards including an "Award of Honor" in 2014 (see He was invited by the Midwest Governors Association to present an overview of his program at the January 2015 Midwest Industrial Energy Efficiency Summit (see Summit agenda at
  • 1975: Judith Levine
    Judith Levine has been named a 2015 "Best Lawyer" in Corporate and Real Estate Law.


  • 1980: Peter Burg
    Burg Simpson Eldredge Hersh & Jardine, P.C. shareholder Peter W. Burg has been invited to join the American Board of Trial Advocates (ABOTA). ABOTA is a national organization dedicated to protecting individuals' rights through the preservation of the jury system and through elevating standards of integrity, honor, and courtesy in the legal profession. ABOTA's membership is widely recognized as a "who's who" of the nation's most preeminent trial lawyers. Entry into ABOTA is on an invitation-only basis.


  • 1991: Ellen O'Brien
    Kutak Rock has elected Ellen K. O’Brien (LLM, University of Denver Sturm College of Law, Taxation) to the firm's partnership. She represents real estate developers and investors in affordable housing projects, including structuring and syndicating affordable housing projects with tax-exempt bonds, historic tax credits, state credits and Low Income Housing Tax Credit.
  • 1997: Paul Enockson
    Paul Enockson is pleased to announce the opening of Enockson Law LLC located at 4465 Wheat Ridge, CO. Enockson continues his practice in business litigation, focusing on contract disputes, business torts, as well as oil and gas related matter.


  • 2000: Evan D. Brown
    Chicago-based law firm Much Shelist announced today that Evan D. Brown has joined the firm as a new Principal in the Intellectual Property & Technology practice group. Evan advises companies of all sizes on matters pertaining to technology, intellectual property and privacy. His practice covers a wide range of related issues, such as licensing, online services, cloud-based technology, data security, social media, copyright and trademark protection and advertising.
  • 2003: Natalie Chase
    Natalie Chase was appointed by Governor Hickenlooper as a District Court Judge for the 18th Judicial District. She is the youngest District Court Judge appointed by Governor Hickenlooper. She currently is President Elect of the Arapahoe County Bar Association for 2015-2016 term.
  • 2005: Michelle Canerday
    Michelle R. Canerday has been promoted to Neal, Gerber & Eisenberg LLP's partnership, effective January 1, 2015. Canerday is a member of the Private Wealth Services practice group, where she counsels individuals, high net worth families and closely held businesses on sophisticated estate, gift and charitable planning matters.
  • 2007: Lindsay L. McKae
    McKae has been elected to the partnership of Lewis Roca Rothgerber LLP. She represents lending institutions in complex finance transactions. She also advises ‎private and public clients on acquisitions, dispositions, development and leasing of real estate assets, in addition to business formations, corporate ‎compliance and stock and asset sales and purchases.
  • 2007: Kristine Poston
    Kutak Rock has elected Kristine L. Poston (JD, University of Denver Sturm College of Law) to the firm's partnership. She focuses her practice on advising clients with respect to the financing, acquiring, selling and leasing of commercial real estate located throughout the country.
  • 2007: Meredith Riley
    Kutak Rock has elected Meredith R. Riley (J.D., University of Denver Sturm College of Law) to the firm's partnership. She assists clients in complex real estate and real estate financing transactions, representing lenders, developers and other investors in a variety of transactions including acquiring, selling, exchanging, leasing and financing commercial real estate.
  • 2009: Kelley Rider Goodwin
    Kelley Rider Goodwin is pleased to announce the opening of The Rider Goodwin Law Offices, LLC exclusively practicing Family Law. After graduation, Kelley has been a Staff Attorney at Colorado Legal Services in the Family and Children's Unit.


  • 2011: Silke Popp
    Kutak Rock LLP welcomes associate Silke Popp to the corporate department. She focuses her practice on general corporate, business, and oil and gas law.
  • 2012: Hillary Ellis
    Kutak Rock LLP welcomes associate attorney Hillary Ellis to the real estate and commercial group, specifically to assist with complex commercial real estate matters, including acquisition, disposition of commercial properties and development and leasing of retail, office and industrial properties.
