The International Legal Honor Society
About Us
Phi Delta Phi International Legal Honors Society, established in the year 1869 to promote a higher standard of professional ethics, is one of the oldest legal organizations in North America. Established nine years before the American Bar Association, the honor society holds a unique position in the history of the North American bench, bar and law schools. Phi Delta Phi’s reputation as an organization devoted to legal excellence has led to the establishment of one hundred and thirty-one active chapters – called Inns – in the Western Hemisphere. Over 200,000 law students and practitioners have been initiated, making Phi Delta Phi the world’s largest legal honor society. Phi Delta Phi’s activities stress service to the community, strong academic performance, and high standards of professional ethics.
