Professional Biography

Sarah Matsumoto is the Clinical Fellow in the Environmental Law Clinic.  Before joining the ELC, Sarah worked as an associate attorney at a plaintiffs’ firm in Eugene, Oregon, where she represented clients seeking to halt and remediate pollution by enforcing our nation’s major federal environmental laws, such as the Clean Water Act (CWA) and Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA).  Sarah assisted clients in successfully prosecuting “citizen suits” against a variety of large, corporate entities, including several large Concentrated Animal Feeding Operations (CAFOs) and a national freight railroad operator.  Sarah received her J.D. from Seattle University School of Law, where she helped to found a student-run publication that eventually became the Seattle Journal of Environmental Law and participated in the school’s International Human Rights Clinic.  Prior to law school, Sarah worked in research and development at an international coffee company.  She graduated with a B.A. in Political Science and Communication from the University of Washington.
