Best writing professor I have ever had. He really helped me through the first semester of law school especially when the workload got difficult. He has a knack for the stress that students are feeling in their other classes and it was really nice to hear general advice from him with regards to that stress etc.

Nothing overwhelming to say. Don't think the class could have been taught any better!

It would be so helpful if we could have seen three graded memos before we our final one was turned in. The memos should be on a different topics than our own, but it would be so helpful to understand what is good and bad.
Professor Thomson is an exemplary professor and really challenged me this semester. I would have liked to have been guided more (as we were in the last portion of the semester) with regard to how we should effectively formulate our assignments - not because it would have been easier, but because I think we would have used that knowledge to move forward more effectively in terms of content rather than being so afraid that we'd misunderstood the role of some other aspect.  The course texts were well written, however, their approach to our assignments often differed from what Professor Thomson expected of us, and so it was sometimes confusing and not helpful to use everything garnered from the texts.
Professor Thomson is the definition of a professional. I would put him up against any other legal writing professor in the country--I'm confident that he is the best. I feel very fortunate to have him as a professor. While I can't say that legal writing is my favorite past time, nor is it my favorite subject, I must admit that I learned so much from Professor Thomson. Professor Thomson not only taught me legal writing, but he also taught me a lot about myself. I know with 100% certainty that the skills I've learned in Professor Thomson's class will greatly benefit me, not only in my legal career, but also in life.  I thought that the books we purchased were of limited value---very expensive, and rather unhelpful.

Professor Thomson is very approachable and willing to help. He provides a classroom environment conducive to learning.
good job Dr Hackenbush
