| Positive and Negative comments about the professor: | Positive and negative comments about the course materials: |
| Professor Thomson is dedicated, consistent, fair, and articulate. LP is a crazy and ridiculous amount of work for only 2 credits. He taught the course in a very straight forward manner and well planned. He is very thorough. You always know what is expected of you--and it is alot. He is committed to his students and compassionate to everyone's needs. I am so glad he made the jump to full-time teaching for DU students sake. He is an asset to the school. | Sloan is worthless. Can we get our money back? I thought Wellford was very useful for the fall syllabus but lacking this spring. Professor Thomson utilized a wide variety of teaching techniques. I am not a fan of any joint projects or group games-- so those I would discourage. Seemed like a waste of time. I feel very strongly that LP should be for 3 credits fall and spring-- with the SAME course work we had this year. I kept track all year of time spent in each class and I spent consistently more in LP than I did in my 3 credit courses. The spring semester is a lot more enjoyable with the oral arguments, individual, and team papers. I liked splitting up the grade distribution a bit more. |
| Professor Thomson goes the extra mile. It is obvious that he truly cares about his students’ success. Professor Thomson was also extremely accommodating when I had scheduling conflicts, and he was more than willing to help me outside of class time with my questions and anxieties. | |
| Professor Thomson is the best professor I have had in law school He takes his class very seriously and really does care about making sure his students learn the material and I'm normally not a sappy person. His office hours are basically 24/7 and he is always willing to help a student. | The text is a bit dry, but what can you expect from a legal writing text. |
| The book wasn't as helpful as I would have liked. | |
| Professor Thomson was great as a professor. He was always prepared for class and motivated very well. He cared about the class a lot. | |
| Professor Thomson was by far the best professor I had throughout my entire first year of law school. He was always so willing and available to help outsisde of class, and was extremely responsive to e-mails and questions. I learned so much from Professor Thomson and am greatful that I had the opportunity to take LP from him. If the opportunity comes about, I would absolutely take another course from him. He is a brillant person. | |
| Professor Thompson was one of the best professors I have ever had through out my educational experiences. Professor Thompson has inspired my to be the best student and future attorney I can possibly be. | |
| Organization showed, I felt motivated by the professionalism Prof Thomson brought to class each and every day. Thanks, I learned a lot | |
| Professor Thomson is an excellent professor. He was encouraging and patient with all of our endless questions. A job well done. Thanks. | Although the Wellford text was an excellent source for LP part 1, it was lacking for part II. I suggest to find another text for the second section. |
| I struggled with the workload and with understanding Professor Thomson. Throughout both semesters I protested the worthiness of the course. But, now that it is done, I understand the importance of the work. I truly appreciate Professor Thomson's patience with my discouragement with my marks. BUT, the marks were probably the least important part of the course. Professor Thomson, I cannot tell you how many times your lectures moved me. Best of luck in the future. | |
| I am very annoyed with 2 things. The annonymous and no collaboration requirement gets in the way of learning. We are all doing this work and gain from sharing what we have accomplished and seeing what others are working on. We can and should learn from eachother. When I asked for comments, the comments I got were flattering but otherwise useless. I wanted real constructive criticism, not, "Oh thats nice" and then a low grade. I think part of this is that my professor didn't want to give one of us unfair advantage or interrupt the idea of anonymous grading. I wanted from more direct critique than I recieved. | |
| I have very much enjoyed the class, the content, and Professor Thomson. Thomson provides an excellent first impression to incoming first year students and his ethical and professional standards are second to none. | Anonymous grading is a waste of time, particularly since the LP classes are not big enough for any good professor to not know who wrote what...ditch it. |
| too many changes to syllabus required class time outside of normal class hours- classes were held on days that did fall fall within the designated class time changed the room where we meet without any notice to students |
