REGISTRAR'S OFFICE BUSINESS HOURS DURING EXAMS 

Monday, May 5 through Friday, May 9 – 8:30 AM to 10:00 PM

Saturday and Sunday May 10 and 11 - CLOSED

Monday, May 12 through Thursday, May 15 – 8:30 AM to 10:00 PM

FINAL EXAMS END ON 5/15

Friday, May 16 – 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM

Out-of-Sequence Dates:

Friday, May 9

Thursday, May 15

Out-of-sequence examinations may not be scheduled before the date of the final examination. Please see below for other rules and restrictions.

Examination Request Form (Faculty Use Only)

Out-of-Sequence Examination Policy

All students must take examinations when and where they are scheduled. Students must plan to be in residence during the entire exam period.  No exam may be taken before the scheduled date for the exam.  A student may request permission to take an examination out-of-sequence for the following reasons:

  1. The student has two (2) in-class examinations scheduled on the same calendar day, or
  2. The student has one (1) in-class examination and one (1) 24-hour take home examination scheduled on the same calendar day, or
  3. The student has two (2) 24-hour take home examinations scheduled on the same calendar day, or
  4. The student has three (3) in-class examinations scheduled on three (3) consecutive calendar days, or
  5. The student has two (2) in-class examinations and one (1) 24-hour take home examination scheduled on three consecutive calendar days, or
  6. The student has one (1) in-class examination and two (2) 24-hour take-home examinations scheduled on three consecutive calendar days.
  7. The student has serious medical reasons verified in writing by appropriate medical personnel, or
  8. The student has a personal emergency supported by documentation.

Examinations Rescheduled for Reasons One (1) and Two (2) Above:

Students who seek to change an examination time for reasons one (1) and two (2) above must seek permission from the Registrar.   Examinations rescheduled for reasons one (1) or two (2) must be completed during the scheduled examination period.

Examinations Rescheduled for Reasons Three (3) and Four (4) Above:

Students who seek to change an examination time for reason three (3) or four (4) above must seek permission from the Associate Dean for Academic Affairs.  Personal emergencies do not include work-related responsibilities, but rather contemplate such events as deaths in the family, or emergency medical situations that involve family dependents.  A student who seeks a rescheduled examination for reasons three (3) and four (4) must file an Out of Sequence Exam Request with the Associate Dean as soon as the medical situation arises or as soon as the student discovers the personal emergency.  Students can find such forms at www.law.du.edu/registrar and in the office of the Associate Dean.  Students granted permission to reschedule an examination for reasons three (3) and (4) must complete the examination as soon as possible and preferably within the normal examination period for the particular semester.  In no event may an a student reschedule an examination after the beginning of the next semester. 

   

Take Home Examinations/Papers:

All requests for extensions of time in which to hand in take-home examinations shall be submitted directly to the professor of the course in a timely fashion no less than one full day in advance of the due date of the take-home examination. The student making such a request shall not reveal his/her identity in order to completely preserve anonymity. Failure to make such requests and also to notify the Registrar's office of such timely requests will result in point penalties or failure at the discretion of the course professor.
