General Internship Information

A legal internship is a monitored work experience where the student establishes intentional learning goals and reflects actively on what is learned throughout their experience. With more than 400 placements a year, the University of Denver, Sturm College of Law's internship program is an effective and comprehensive bridge to take students from law student to lawyer. Interns work with corporate in-house counsel, private firms, government and non-profit agencies, as well as with judges at all levels. By working under the supervision of a mentor-attorney and having legal responsibilities, such as drafting briefs, performing legal research, drafting legal memoranda, appearing in court and interviewing clients and witnesses, interns gain the practical skills and professional values needed to become a successful legal professional. An internship is a great way to earn academic credit, gain relevant work experience, and build your resume.

We are pleased to announce that DU’s outstanding Environmental/Natural Resources Law Internship Program, which has been directed for many years by Professor Rock Pring, has now joined the Legal Internship Program. Professor Pring will continue to work with Ann Vessels in an advisory capacity, providing expertise on environmental and natural resource internships, to ensure DU’s students are provided the very best opportunities to acquire real experience in Environmental and Natural Resources law practice. Located in one of the premier legal centers in the world for this area of law, environmental and natural resources interns work with the leading federal, state and local government agencies, international, national, and local public interest organizations, private law firms and corporations and receive unparalleled legal learning and career advancement opportunities.
