2007-2008 Competition Recap:

This year, the Jessup Team competed in the Southwest Regional Competition from February 21 – 24 in Houston, Texas. There, 22 teams from all over the region competed for two spots to the International Rounds in Washington D.C.

Our team placed 2nd overall and advanced to International Rounds in Washington, D.C.

Many of our team members were also recognized as top individual speakers based on scores from the preliminary rounds:

  • 2nd Best Speaker – Krishma Parsad
  • 7th Best Speaker – Matthew Dardenne
  • 10th Best Speaker – Nicole Salamander

In Washington, D.C. we competed against 97 teams from around the world. Only 12 were from the United States. In total, 110 teams were in attendance from 77 different countries. We had the honor to compete against teams from countries such as Finland and Brazil during the preliminary rounds.

Our team placed 45th overall and, once again, a number of our team members were ranked in the top 100 individual speakers of the competition:

  • 28th Best Speaker – Nicole Salamander
  • 51st Best Speaker – Matthew Dardenne
  • 84th Best Speaker – Krishma Parsad

Annual Go National Ball at the Jessup International Rounds

We also had a great time getting to know other students of international law at the annual Go National Ball where teams dress in their country’s national garb. Teams from the United States always have to be creative in coming up with an outfit and this year, we dressed in Air Force uniforms complete with name patches featuring characters from this year’s Jessup problem.
