Business Law Society
The first goal of the Business Law Society is to provide its members with opportunities to interact with lawyers and other professionals in the Denver business community and throughout the United States. The Business Law Society sponsors events which bring law students in contact with representatives of various fields, providing a unique opportunity for the student to listen and ask questions in an informal atmosphere. Our goal is to afford students a chance to inquire into fields of law relating to business, to provide students with networking opportunities, and to prepare students for practice in the business and corporate sector.
The second goal of the Business Law Society is to build a strong sense of community within the College of Law and Daniels College of Business. BLS looks for opportunities to sponsor events and activities with other student organizations that will foster a greater understanding of DU’s diverse student body. BLS seeks to be an all inclusive organization building bridges of trust and understanding among its members and the entire law school community.
Our third goal is to amplify the standing and prestige of the University of Denver College of Law. BLS supports events that have a positive influence on our school’s national reputation and perception. Our school is an outstanding institution of higher education for the study of law; and it is our responsibility to further the positive perception of our school. We look to organize events and activities which will promote the university’s standing and reputation throughout the legal community. BLS seeks to help the College of Law become the premier law school for the study of business law.
The Business Law Society (B.L.S.) at the University of Denver’s Sturm College of Law is a graduate/professional student organization encouraging participation by all members of the University community. The organization provides a forum to exchange ideas for students interested in business law. The B.L.S. seeks to provide an interdisciplinary education that addresses legal and business issues that students will face in private practice, public interest, corporate settings, and other careers. It introduces members to practitioners in the field of business law and provides networking opportunities within the Denver and surrounding business communities.
The mission of the B.L.S. is to promote awareness of and appreciation for business law including, but not limited to: enterprise structure; finance; corporate law; securities; mergers and acquisitions; antitrust; and related topics. The B.L.S. also strives to actively promote and aid students’ pursuit of a career in business law.
The B.L.S. advocates corporate social responsibility, ethical management practices, and community involvement. The B.L.S. further seeks to enhance professional opportunities and to promote graduate student interaction and involvement within the Sturm College of Law, Daniels College of Business and the greater University of Denver community. To accomplish these goals, the B.L.S. will provide a network of resources, organize and host school-wide events and foster strong relationships with DU alumni and Denver business law practitioners.
