ADR in Federal Government

The federal government has been one of the most significant adopters of ADR. Enacted in 1925, the Federal Arbitration Act (9 U.S.C. ยง 1, et seq), provides for contractually based compulsory and binding arbitration.1 The Administrative Dispute Resolution Act of 1990 (reenacted by the Administrative Dispute Resolution Act of 1996). In addition, the armed forces, including the Navy and the Air Force have ADR programs in place.
