Financial Aid

Consistent with the policy of most professional schools, students are expected to bear the financial burden of their educational expenses. Low-interest and long-term student loans are the primary forms of financial aid.

Each year the cost of attendance is established which includes tuition, books, and living expenses for the nine-month academic period. The cost of attendance can be found on the web. Students may borrow the entire cost of attendance through a combination of student loans, if the student qualifies for such loans.

Loan Description

Descriptions of the types of loans available to law students may be found on the Law School’s Financial Aid web page.

  • Scholarships/Grants for First Year Students
All admitted first year students are automatically considered for scholarships at the Sturm College of Law. Scholarships, if awarded, are continued for six semesters (eight semesters for evening division students), so long as the recipient remains in good academic standing. Scholarships pay for tuition only and cannot be applied to living expenses or other non-tuition charges.

Admitted students with a demonstrated history of excellence in scholarship and public service may apply for Chancellor Scholarships. Details may be found on the Chancellor Scholarships website.

Grant funds are awarded based solely on financial need as determined by the FAFSA. There are very few grant funds available for graduate students. Law students should not expect to receive grants as part of the financial aid package.
