Graduation Checklist

To be completed by Juris Doctor students during final law school semester. Non-JD students must contact Graduate Legal Studies for their graduation checklist information.

  1. Graduation forms:
    • Complete two electronic intent to graduate forms (one form through the Law Registrar’s Office and one form through PioneerWeb) by the second week of class the semester you intend to graduate. The Law Registrar’s Office will send an email with specific instructions to all students, typically in the first week of class each semester.
  2. Degree audit:
    • The final responsibility for completing graduation requirements rests with the student. The JD degree plan, along with directions on how to run an academic progress report, are on the Law Registrar’s website.
  3. Graduation vendors:
    • Visit the graduation ceremony webpage for specific information about graduation announcements, composite photos, cap and gown ordering, fingerprinting, and class rings and diploma frames.
  4. Bar preparation:
    • If you plan to take the Colorado Bar, you will need to complete our electronic release form. Your completion of this form allows (and prompts) the College of Law to send a copy of your law school application and certification of graduation to the Colorado Bar. Please note that the College of Law will send your law school application and certification of graduation once all final grades are submitted.
    • If you plan to take a bar examination out-of-state, you must complete our records release form to request the College of Law to send documentation to an out-of-state attorney admissions office.
  5. Career Development Office (CDO) exit interview:
    • Please contact the CDO to arrange an exit interview. The CDO contact information is: Suite 223 / careers@law.du.edu / 303.871.6124.
  6. Graduation ceremony:
    • Ensure that you have all of the information you need regarding your upcoming graduation ceremony. Please visit the graduation ceremony webpage for details.

If you have any questions along the way, please contact the Law Registrar’s Office and we can help you or point you in the right direction.
