International Mining Law & Policy
Robert Bassett is the Manager of the Minerals Practice Group at Holland & Hart, LLP in Denver, Colorado. He practices natural resources and international law with an emphasis on the mining industry. In recent years he has handled projects as diverse as the financing of uranium mining companies and major copper mines, acquisition of mining properties in Colorado, Utah, Alaska, Nevada, Minnesota, Mexico, Chile, Argentina, Sierra Leone and South Africa, litigation involving a coal mine accidents, acquisition of a short-line railroads, and condemnation matters for access to natural resource projects in numerous jurisdictions.
Mr. Bassett has published numerous articles for the Rocky Mountain Mineral Law Foundation, of which he is the International Committee Chairman, and for the International Bar Association Section on Energy and Natural Resources Law, of which he is past Chair of the Mining Committee. He has co-chaired five Special Institutes on International Mining Law, jointly sponsored by these two organizations.
Mr. Bassett has been a lecturer at the Centre for Energy, Petroleum and Mineral Law and Policy at the University of Dundee, Scotland.
