I was born in Indiana and grew up in a farming community. I obtained my B.A. from the University of Colorado in 1970 with emphases in political science, psychology and humanities. I attended Georgetown for my first year of law school and transferred to and graduated from the University of Denver in 1974. During my career I have served as a County Court Judge and as head of the Attorney Discipline system for the Supreme Court of Colorado from 1979 to 1999. I have been very active in the American Bar Association serving on the Standing Committee for Professional Discipline and the Standing Committee on Ethics (which drafts ABA ethics opinions for the guidance of attorneys).
I have taught continuously as an Adjunct Professor at the University of Denver Sturm College of Law since 1990. I have also taught at the University of Colorado School of Law in Boulder, the Graduate School for Public Affairs at the University of Colorado Denver, and Metropolitan State College, where I also continue to teach.
Linda Donnelly began teaching in fall 1992.
