Visiting Assistant Professor Colleen O’Laughlin supervises students in the Civil Litigation Clinic. Colleen received her JD from DU and her BSBA in Business Administration from the University of Colorado-Boulder. Colleen began her 20-year litigation and appellate career at Caplan and Earnest, LLC in Boulder where she represented clients in a wide variety of matters, including employment, governmental immunity and tort claims, education, risk management, liability, personal injury, and commercial and real estate matters, including landlord-tenant issues. Colleen also served as an Assistant Attorney General for the Colorado Attorney General’s office, serving in both the employment and medical sections. She then returned to private practice, representing clients in employment, general litigation, estate planning, commercial and real estate matters. Colleen’s pro bono experience includes representing clients in protection orders, commercial and family law matters. She was also appointed by Colorado Governor John Hickenlooper to serve on the State Judicial Performance Commission.
