Lawyering in Spanish: Program will host visitors from prestigious South American law firms

During the week of June 9th to 13th, DU Law’s Lawyering in Spanish program at will be hosting three visitors from prestigious South American law firms: Pedro Serrano Espelta, partner, Marval O’Farrell and Mairal, in Argentina; Carlos Dominguez, partner, Hoet Pelaez Duque y Castillo, in Venezuela; and Carlos Botta, junior partner, MBGC, in Uruguay. One of the reasons for this visit is to develop videos in Spanish featuring lectures on South American legal trends in the areas of business law and natural resources law. The Sturm College of Law would like to extend an invitation to local practitioners to join us for an informal lunch on Thursday, June 12th, from 12-1:30 pm to exchange ideas with our visiting attorneys regarding how best to create synergies Colorado and Latin American law schools and law firms. The lunch will be held at the Sturm College of Law in the Faculty Library (Room 412), located at 2255 E. Evans Ave. (near University and Evans). Dean Emeritus Dan Hoffman recently received the first-ever Lifetime Achievement Award from the Colorado State Committee of the American College of Trial Lawyers.

Hoffman has been honored with the first-ever Lifetime Achievement Award from the Colorado State Committee of the American College of Trial Lawyers (ACTL). Hoffman joined Hogan & Hartson’s Denver office in early 2006, and he also serves as dean emeritus and professor emeritus of the University of Denver College of Law, where he was Dean from 1978 to 1984.
