Legal Internship Program

Prospective Interns

The Legal Internship Program offers internships for credit. Students interested in an internship are required to read the Internship Handbook before enrolling in the program. Additionally, read recent stories from interns and tips about securing an internship:

You can also search for Mentors and Internships in our Mentor Search »
(The fact that there is not a specific opportunity listed for a specific Mentor does not mean the Mentor will not accept interns. It simply means they have not contacted the Internship Office stating their desire for a specific semester.)

After finding a Mentor, please contact him/her to verify that they are able to accommodate your request for an internship. You must complete the Internship Request form online during the open sign-up period. You must also register the number of internship credits you will be taking with the registrar. The internship credit hours registration should be done during your regular registration in MyWeb (Banner). Internship credits cannot be increased or decreased after the registration add/drop period.

Students must have completed at least 30 credits toward their JD degree before the semester of their internship.

All students interested in doing an internship outside the state of Colorado must meet with and receive approval from the Internship Director, prior to the semester in which credit will be earned.

You may not start working in your internship until the mentor application is completed by your mentor and approved by the Internship Director.
