Other Loan Repayment Assistance Programs
Additional loan repayment assistance programs are funded by states and the federal government. Funding for these programs varies from year to year and may be subject to budgetary approval.
- Currently, there are 23 states that offer loan repayment assistance programs to public interest lawyers. Unfortunately, Colorado is not one of them. For information about current State Based LRAPs, please go to the Equal Justice Works website or the ABA website.
- The John R. Justice Student Loan Repayment Program (JRJ) provides loan repayment assistance for state and federal public defenders and state prosecutors who agree to remain employed as public defenders and prosecutors for at least three years. Repayment benefits cannot exceed $10,000 in any calendar year or an aggregate total of $60,000 per attorney. Each state administers its own JRJ application process.
