The University of Denver Sturm College of Law cordially invites you to conduct on-campus interviews from September 2 through October 3.
In today’s increasingly globalized world with its ever-changing laws, a comprehensive legal education demands a healthy dose of practical experience. DU Law has long been ahead of the curve in providing students with opportunities to learn outside of the classroom, emphasizing writing and practical training, and providing a dynamic, rigorous curriculum. Above all, DU Law is committed to educating market ready lawyers. We encourage you to meet our students face-to-face this fall through DU Law 2008 On-Campus Interviews, or through our other two OCI options: Application Collection or Direct Applications.
An Overview: On-Campus Interviews, Application Collection, and Direct Applications
We have three options for employers to consider when recruiting students in the fall. Our On-Campus Interview program involves a collection of student applications for specific firms/organizations and positions. These applications are sent to employers, who determine which students to interview on a set date in the University of Denver Sturm College of Law building. For employers who cannot come to campus, we offer the Application Collection process in which we collect student resumes for firms/organizations and then send these to them in one bundle. During the Direct Application process, students send applications directly to firms. This year, the registration for all three processes will take place online. Please make sure you direct yourself to the correct registration section at the top of this page.

We invite you to join us on campus this fall! There’s no place quite like Colorado in September, and we look forward to welcoming you and introducing you to our exceptional students!
As an employer, you will have the opportunity to screen all candidates for their on-campus interviews. We offer considerable flexibility in scheduling to accommodate your needs. We would also be happy to coordinate our interviews with the University of Colorado at Boulder should you wish to visit both schools in one recruiting trip.
If you are interested in interviewing our students in the fall, please read the instructions for registering online (above). Please register online by Thursday, May 1 to reserve a spot for OCI. You will receive an email confirmation, with your confirmed date, within one week of registering. If any of the interview dates are not compatible with your schedule, please let us know and we will be happy to accommodate your needs.
A fee of $150 will be charged for firms interviewing on campus. We will, however, waive this fee for firms recruiting on our campus for the first time and any government and nonprofit agencies. You have two payment options to choose from: you may either send a check within ten days of completing your online registration, or you may pay with a credit card at the end of the online registration process. If you need to cancel your on-campus interviews for any reason, you will receive a full refund by notifying us of such cancellation before July 1. After July 1, no refund will be available.
Overview of DU Law
The University of Denver Sturm College of Law is a top 100 law school with nationally ranked programs in Environmental and Natural Resources Law and Tax Law. Our fall 2007 entering class had a median LSAT of 159 and is one of the most culturally and geographically diverse in the law school’s history. Applications have more than doubled in the past four years and minority student enrollment has increased to approximately 20% of the total student body.
Our program in Environmental and Natural Resources Law (ENRL) is ranked in the top 15 in the nation by U.S. News & World Report; and is one of the oldest in the nation. University of Denver law faculty began teaching natural resources courses—including water law—in the 1890s. Our internationally-known faculty offer students myriad opportunities to apply their classroom knowledge to real world situations, and bring what they learn from practice back to school.
DU Law’s Moot Court Program, a strong draw for many students, polishes future litigators into shining stars of real courtrooms. Our emphasis on practical courtroom experience successfully catapulted DU Law’s trial teams into regional and national prominence, including first place in the ABA’s 2003 National Civil Trial Competition. Recently, the Jessup International Moot Court Team competed for a spot in the World competition and won; the team is one of twelve that will advance to the World competition in April, 2008. The Sturm College of Law building features two state-of-the-art courtrooms outfitted with the latest in courtroom technology, including individual video-screen monitors in the jury box, digital document cameras and video recording capabilities. The larger courtroom seats 120 and is modeled after the Colorado Supreme Court and the Colorado Court of Appeals.
DU Law has the oldest clinic in the United States, representing underserved clients from all walks of life. In 2004, the Student Law Office (SLO) celebrated 100 years of providing services to the legal community. The SLO houses clinics in criminal, civil and domestic law as well as an appellate advocacy clinic that allows students to practice before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 10th Circuit. The civil rights clinic, which focuses primarily on racial profiling and unfair labor practices, recently won a national award for a program on predatory lending.
Our curriculum is innovative and global in its perspective. We offer substantive law courses in Spanish and Russian and a number of unique writing courses, including those that teach students how to draft pre-trial motions and to negotiate and draft agreements. Our move to the Frank H. Ricketson Jr. Law Building allowed for increased integration of the most sophisticated classroom technology, including the utilization of CaseMap – a program designed to organize facts and legal research that is used by law professionals nationwide.
Upon graduation, our students are equipped with the skills necessary to provide immediate and valuable contributions to the legal community. Not only are they comfortable drafting a brief or presenting an oral argument, but they are also dedicated to upholding the highest ethical standards of their profession. Each student is required to perform a minimum of fifty hours of supervised public service work as a prerequisite to graduation. Students are able to effectively integrate the theory of law with the practice of law while understanding their obligation to perform pro bono work and contribute to their community as practicing attorneys.
