Office of Career Development & Opportunities

Public Interest

The Public Sector Team of the Office of Career Development and Opportunities works to provide information and increase awareness about the public interest and public service legal community, public interest and public service job opportunities, and accessibility to funding for such work. These areas include local, state and federal government and non-profit and legal services organizations. Examples of the broad range of public service include criminal law, environmental law, family law, foundations, government, international public interest work, labor unions, political campaigns, private public interest law firms, prosecuting attorneys, public policy, and alternatives to traditional public interest law.

There are many opportunities to explore the Public Sector and we encourage students to participate in externships, events sponsored by our office and other law school offices and student organizations, such as the Annual Public Interest and Government Career Fair, mock interviews and informational interviews.

Below are links to a wide array of Public Sector opportunities and resources. We encourage you to meet with the Public Sector Career Consultants in our office, Trey Baker (treybaker@law.du.edu) and Andrea Montague (amontague@law.du.edu) to learn more about these areas.
