2013 Sutton Writing Competition

The 2013 Sutton Writing Competition allows JD, LLM, and Graduate Tax Program Students from the Sturm College of Law to write a paper on any area of international or comparative law for a chance to win a $4,000 scholarship to attend the Hague Academy for the 2014 summer term. A Human Rights Advocacy Lecture with Professor Stephanie Farrior

Please join the International Legal Studies Program at the University of Denver Sturm College of Law as we welcome renowned scholar and activist Stephanie Farrior who will share observations from over 25 years of international human rights advocacy. Stephanie Farrior is Professor of Law and Director of International and Comparative Law Programs at Vermont Law School. She has taught international law courses at Oxford, George Washington, American and Pennsylvania State universities, and was a Visiting Scholar at Georgetown and Visiting Researcher at Harvard Law School. Professor Farrior co-founded the Amnesty International Lawyers Network and served on the Board of Directors that founded the Center for Justice and Accountability. She went on to become Legal Director and general counsel of Amnesty International, based at its
International Secretariat in London.

Farrior’s research focuses on issues of discrimination, particularly on the basis of race, sex and sexual orientation; state responsibility for human rights abuses by non-state actors; and the work of international human rights monitoring bodies.
