Clarence Darrow: A One-Man Play by: David W. Rentiels

The Parker Arts Council and Cafe La Papa are pleased to present: Clarence Darrow: A One-Man Play, written by David W. Rentiels and performed by former mayor of Parker David Casiano, will open this Saturday, September 28th at 6:00pm at Deep Space in Parker,CO. Tickets are $7.50 and may be purchased online at parkerartscouncil.org or at the door.

The play brings Darrow “back to life” and delves into his life as a lawyer, social justice activist, and noted member of the American Civil Liberties Union. Darrow is most known for his defense of Leopold and Loeb and John T. Scopes in the Scopes “Monkey” Trial.

Saturday, October 5th at 6:00pm $7.50 each Saturday, October 12th at 6:00pm $7.50 each Saturday, October 19th at 6:00pm $7.50 each

Fighting Destructive Mining Practices in West Virginia

Come meet environmental practitioner Peter Morgan! He has spent the last five years fighting against destructive mining practices in West Virginia and Alaska as a Sierra Club staff attorney.
He will speak about his practice in general and one of his current cases is an appeal in the D.C. Circuit concerning the de-listing of Blair Mountain Battlefield from the National Historic Register. The battlefield is the site of the second largest armed rebellion in U.S. history where coal miners fought against coal mining company men for the right to unionize and was struck from the Register after local mineral right holding coal mining companies disputed the procedure followed in the initial listing.

Rwanda Twenty Years Ago Today is a University of Denver initiative which seeks to commemorate the Rwandan genocide through an examination of the events leading up to April 6, 1994.

Please join Rwanda Twenty Years Ago Today for a very special panel of Rwandans who will discuss their experiences and perceptions of the events leading up to the genocide.

Citizen's Grey Wolf Hearing

The Fish and Wildlife Service is proposing to delist the grey wolf under the Endangered Species Act.

A coalition of environmental groups will be hosting a hearing at DU in the forum next Wednesday October 16th from 6 to 9pm to take comments on the delisting proposal.

There will be a panel of speakers. Snacks will be provided and there will be a kid-friendly corner!
