A Discussion of the Colorado Anti-Discrimination Act

Thursday, October 10, 2013 at 12:00pm - 1:00pm
Location: Law 125

Please join the Denver University Law Review, APALSA, BLSA, LLSA NALSA, and OUTLaws, on Thursday, October 10th, from 12pm-1pm in room 125 for a discussion of the Colorado Anti-Discrimination Act (CADA).

Leading the discussion are Siddhartha Rathod of Rathod | Mohamedbhai LLC, a firm specializing in civil rights and employment discrimination cases, who worked on the Colorado Anti-Discrimination Act (CADA) Remedies Bill and Steve Chavez, Director of the Colorado Civil Rights Division (CCRD), the agency charged with enforcing the State’s Anti-Discrimination laws.

Briefly, about the CADA: Earlier this year, the Colorado General Assembly enacted remedies for the employment discrimination provisions of the CADA. Among other things, those provisions will benefit employees who work for smaller employers not covered by Title VII, employees who have claims based on sexual orientation or gender identity, which are not currently recognized by federal law, and state employees in ADA and ADEA cases.

This lunchtime presentation will focus on practicing anti-discrimination employment law in Colorado under Title VII and related statutes, the impact that the CADA will have on those cases and the differences between CADA & Title VII, and the rights of Colorado employees under CADA.

Lunch will be provided. We hope you can join us!
