We will be encouraging the DU community to wear purple to support survivors of domestic violence and to bring awareness.
1 in 4 women experience domestic violence in their lifetime so this is a prevalent concern for our society.
We will be handing out free purple shirts on October 22nd and 23rd to the community and asking them to wear them on the 24th.
Later that evening on the 24th, Dr. Kris Miccio from the Sturm College of Law will be
speaking about her work in Colorado with domestic violence.
Specifically, she will be talking about how violence reinforces the subordination of women and the
colonization of women’s bodies and how the failure to understand that violence destroys bodily integrity.
