Campaign for Fair Food - The Coalition of Immokalee Workers

Thursday, October 4, 2012 at 12:00pm - 1:00pm
Location: 180

Following over a decade of education, outreach, and action in its Campaign for Fair Food, the CIW has developed the Fair Food Program, a historic partnership between farmworkers, tomato growers, and ten leading food corporations. Through their commitment to the Program, these corporations — among them McDonald’s, Subway, Whole Foods, and Trader Joe’s — are paying a one-cent premium towards increased farmworker wages, demanding more humane labor standards from their Florida tomato suppliers, and buying only from growers who meet those higher standards.

This event is an opportunity to discuss farmworkers rights and the CIWs newest campaign event, which is Saturday, October 6th at City Park. (More information to come about the Saturday event) CIW is only in town for a short time and we are honored to have them come to campus and speak. This campus event is co-hosted by LLSA, ACLU, and FARM.
