FAQ

What are the prereqs to your law school?

1) Applicants must have a bachelor of arts or a bachelor of science degree in any field from an accredited college or university by the time they enter law school. 2) Applicants must take the Law School Admission Test (LSAT).

How do I get more information about the LSAT?

We can send applicants a Law School Admission Test (LSAT) booklet or one may wish to visit the Law School Admission Council (LSAC) website www.lsac.org or call them at 215.968.1001.

Do you average multiple LSAT scores?

We will use your highest LSAT score when reviewing your file for admission.

How do I get a Sturm College of Law viewbook?

How do I get a Sturm College of Law application?

You can access our online application through the Law School Admission Council’s (LSAC) website. You must register with LSDAS to access our online application.

When do you start accepting applications for Fall 2010 entrance?

September 2009.

How do I request an application fee waiver?

If you have already received a fee waiver from LSAC, your application fee will automatically be waived when you submit our online application through LSDAS. If you have not received an LSAC fee waiver, but would still like to request an application fee waiver, please send an email to Office of Admissions explaining why you are requesting an application fee waiver and provide documentation such as your tax return, FAFSA information, or a previous financial aid award from a school you’ve attended. The Sturm College of Law only grants financial need based fee waivers.

When does the Admissions Committee begin reviewing applications?

The Admissions Committee begins reviewing completed applications and making admissions decisions for Fall 2010 entrance in December 2009 and continues throughout the following spring.

Is there an application deadline?

There is no formal application deadline. However, for the best consideration, your application and application materials should be received by the Office of Admissions by March 1 of the year you would like to enter. Our Admissions Committee begins meeting to review application files in December.

When will I be notified of an admission decision?

Once an application becomes complete, it moves on to the Admission Committee for review. Admission decisions can take any where from six to eight weeks and longer to be made.

What is tuition?

Tuition is set at $1182.00 per credit hour for the 2009-2010 academic year. $35,460.00 for one year based on 30 credits (full time day students). $26,004.00 for one year based on 22 credits (part time evening students). The University of Denver is a private university with no tuition difference between in-state and out-of-state residents.

How many applications did your school receive last year?

The Sturm College of Law received 3140 applications last year (2008-2009 school year).

How many students enter law school every year?

We have approximately 300 first year law students enter every year. About 220 students are in the full time day division and about 80 are in the part time evening division.

What is your median LSAT score and median GPA score?

The 2008 entering class has a median LSAT score of 159 and a median GPA of 3.5.

What is your median age?

The 2008 entering class has a median age of 25 years.

Are laptops required?

Yes, all first year law students entering Fall 2009 will be required to bring a laptop for their academic experience. In the Spring of 2009, further information will be provided on the model and minimum standards necessary to meet the laptop requirement. To learn more, please click here.
