Official Transcripts
Admitted applicants must complete their file by furnishing the Admissions Office with official transcripts from all educational institutions attended since high school. Official transcripts must be sent to the Admissions Office directly from issuing institution and must indicate your final grades and any degrees received. They will need to arrive before the start of school. LSDAS copies are not official transcripts.
Immunizations
Colorado State Law and University of Denver policy require two (2) doses of vaccine against measles, mumps, and rubella (MMR). Both doses must have been received after 12 months of age and at least one month or more apart. Students born after December 31, 1956, who are enrolled in traditional University programs, both undergraduate and graduate, including law, must comply with this requirement.
A hold preventing fall registration will be applied to students’ accounts on July 20th, 2009. Students that submit proof late will be charged $25. The late fee will be applied to Law Students on July 30th, 2009.
If proof of immunity is not provided to the HCC, you will not be allowed to register for classes. In the event of an outbreak of one of these viruses on campus, you will be withdrawn from classes by the Health Department until the outbreak is contained (this can take 6 to 8 weeks!). You will not be eligible for a tuition credit under these circumstances.
Proof of adequate immunization can be submitted in several ways:
- The form provided by DU, completed with immunizations dated (month, day, year), and signed by your physician or the physician’s representative.
- A photocopy of your previous school immunization record, signed by a school nurse.
- A physician’s immunization record, with signature.
- Proof of immunity through blood testing. A copy of the lab results must be included.
Please note that, according to Colorado regulations, a history of having had measles, mumps, or rubella disease is not acceptable proof of immunity, even if documented by a physician.
The MMR vaccination is available at the Health & Counseling Center for a $65 fee. The Health & Counseling Center administers the vaccinations between 9.00am – 11.00am and 1.00pm and 3.00pm, Monday – Friday.

Orientation
Orientation is mandatory for incoming first year day and evening students. It is structured to allow you to learn about the law school, meet fellow students, faculty, and administrators, and take care of all necessary business before classes begin. Orientation is currently scheduled for August 10-14, 2009. More information about Orientation will be available in the upcoming months.
Class Schedule
First Year Day and Evening students are automatically scheduled for their first year classes. The day division is divided into three sections and the evening division is its own section. The students in a section take their required core courses together and divide into even smaller groups for the school’s unique Lawyering Process course, which gives first year students early, hands-on exposure to the crucial skills of research, writing, negotiation, and persuasion. Class schedules will be sent out in early August.
Books
Law books for incoming first year students will be available for purchase in August. Please be aware that, although unlikely, your class schedule may change up to and including the first day of orientation. In the event that your class schedule changes and you need to return or exchange your books for a full refund, please do not take books out of their original packaging or write in them until you receive your final schedule at orientation. The bookstore is located in Driscoll Center South.
Laptop Requirement
All first year students are required to have a laptop to support their educational experience at the University of Denver Sturm College of Law. To read more about the laptop requirement and how you can purchase a laptop at a discounted price please click here.
Student Handbook
Our student handbook covers academic policies and other important student information at the Sturm College of Law.
Denver and Colorado
Denver is located on high, rolling plains, approximately 15 miles from the “Foothills” (a gentle series of peaks ranging from 7,000 to 11,000 feet high). Just beyond the Foothills is the Continental Divide and a series of peaks as high as 14,000 feet, known locally as the “Front Range.” Contrary to popular belief, Denver has a mild, dry and arid climate. Denver boasts over 200 parks, 450 miles of paved, designated bike trails, over 70 golf courses, and more than 143 free tennis courts. A short drive from Denver are opportunities for skiing, snowboarding, hiking, fishing, camping, horseback riding, sailing, or mountain biking. For more information about Denver and Colorado, please click here.
