Server Space on the Network
[Return to Helpdesk]
While connected to the network, right click on My Computer.

Select Map Network Drive.
Select the letter H:. (You can really select any letter.)
Your username is the part of your email address before the @.
Type the following in the path field: \\students.law.du.edu\username$

Finish.
You should be challenged by the network for your username and password.
Enter your username in the following form:
law\username
The password is the password you use to get your law school email.

Use your H: Drive to back up school related documents. Always save your documents more than one place. Computers die, drinks get spilled, cars broken into at the worst possible times. Saving your data in multiple locations can minimize the damage from events like these.
Sometimes for some reason mapping has not worked well. You can try, if the preceding steps do not work, to use the IP address for the server rather than the word "students" in the path. \\130.253.166.28\username$
Mapping will not work if your computer name is a duplicate of another name on the system. To change the name of your computer, go to Control Panel>>[Performance and Maintenance]>>System>>Computer Name>>Change. Change the name of your computer to your law school username. This accomplishes two things -- it will be a unique name and it will also help us track problems should they occur.
