Taxation LLM Experiential Learning
Tax Challenge Team
The Graduate Tax Program has a great tradition of excellence, demonstrated by our student teams’ success in the national Tax Challenge now known as the ABA Law School Tax Challenge and formerly the Arthur Anderson Tax Challenge. LL.M. students submit a detailed analysis of a complex corporate or international tax problem. We have dominated the competition over the past 20 years, placing first in the nation six times; second eight times; and third four times. Student team members participate through the Tax Research and Writing Course each fall and spend several months preparing for the competition.
Low Income Taxpayer Clinic
A Low Income Taxpayer Clinic is an organization independent from the Internal Revenue Service that represents low income taxpayers before the Internal Revenue Service in audit, appeals, collections and federal tax litigation. The University of Denver’s Low Income Taxpayer Clinic has student participants who are earning their Masters in Tax (MT) or Masters of Law in Taxation (LLM) degrees. Students participating in the clinic will gain valuable experience handling client matters, researching individual and small business tax issues and working directly with the Internal Revenue Service and Colorado Department of Revenue.
