Graduate Legal Studies

Director's Welcome

Dear Students, Colleagues and Friends,

Thank you for your interest in the Roche LLM in International Business Transactions (IBT) at Denver Law. Please use this website to learn more about our innovative curriculum, our committed faculty and our friendly culture. You will discover that Denver Law offers you much more than a degree that can help you advance your legal career. It also provides the opportunity to study with professors who are not just legal experts, but excellent teachers committed to mentoring inside and outside the classroom, and to become part of a global network of legal professionals who share ideas, information and contacts with students and each other.

There are many LLM degrees available. Let me share some of the characteristics of our IBT LLMthat make it unique. First, we offer an innovative and broad curriculum designed to give students a core grounding in how international business is conducted and regulated. However, our program allows enough flexibility to enable a student to specialize in a course of study that matches his or her individual career goals. Second, we are the only LLM that provides mandatory training in negotiation and drafting, both necessary skills for any international lawyer. Third, our program is intentionally exclusive and small enough to provide meaningful counseling and guidance to all students on an individual basis, laying a strong foundation for academic and professional success. I and the Graduate Legal Studies team, are always available to assist you in choosing the best courses, internship and extra-curricular activities (like the Vis Moot Competition in International Arbitration), and the best niche for you in Denver and in the world. Lastly, Denver Law and the legal community in Denver in general are extremely welcoming. Because we are the only law school located in Denver, our students have access to numerous networking, internship and mentoring opportunities. Lastly, Denver Law has one of the oldest international legal studies programs in the country as well as three other LLM degrees: (1) Graduate Tax (2) Environmental and Natural Resources Law and Policy and (3) American Law Practice. You will become part of a vibrant and diverse group of graduate students at Denver Law.

We hope that you will join us and become part of Denver Law’s dynamic new program in International Business Transactions.
