Practitioners’ Guide to Compliance: Anti-Money Laundering and Countering the Financing of Terrorism (AML/CFT) | 47xx

This interactive seminar introduces students to compliance practice within the financial services industry, taught by experienced practitioners. The course will begin with topics in financial crime and its deterrence, the movement of money and illicit money networks, and public policy objectives for this area of the law. A survey of sources for AML/CFT law and guidance, both domestic and international, will follow, providing frameworks for understanding how compliance norms develop. A best practices “toolbox” will be highlighted within our examination of an effective compliance organization, including issues of professional responsibility. The course will end with an exploration of emerging issues in the field, such as digital currency.
