Doris Truhlar was born in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, and at age five moved with her family to Missouri, where she earned a journalism degree from the University of Missouri. Soon she left Missouri and headed to Denver, where she enrolled at the University of Denver College of Law. It was there that she met her husband, Robert; eventually the two started a law practice together, Truhlar & Truhlar & Truhlar LLP, specializing in employment law, with an emphasis on discrimination claims (Bob) and domestic relations, child custody, and wills (Doris). While at DU Law, Doris was editor of the Denver Law Review and, upon graduation (Order of St. Ives), she clerked for Judge McWilliams at the U.S. Tenth Circuit Court of Appeals. Doris has been the recipient of numerous awards including the Hoagland Award, the Arapahoe County Charles Dillon Award for Outstanding Public Service, and the Colorado Bar Association Outstanding Pro Bono Service award. Doris also is a past President of the Colorado Women’s Bar Association.
