Professor Emeritus John A. Carver Jr.

Robert B. Yegge Excellence in Teaching Award - 1996

Professor Emeritus Carver received the Excellence in Teaching Award for his outstanding contributions to the educational mission of the school and for his dedication to fostering relationships between the law school and the broader legal community. After serving as Assistant Secretary of the Interior under President Kennedy and then as Under Secretary of the Interior during President Johnson’s tenure, Carver came to DU in 1972. He has since served as Of Counsel to two Denver law firms. As one of the inaugural scholarships established at the law school, the John A. Carver Jr. Scholarship has been an integral part of the College of Law’s named scholarship program. Professor Carver continued to teach, specifically in the Natural Resources and Environmental Law program, until his retirement in 2005.
