Amy McLellan has been a practicing attorney for over twenty years and a law professor for almost a decade. She is licensed to practice in both Massachusetts and New Hampshire and is an appointed Court Mediator for the New Hampshire Complex Trust and Probate Docket. She completed her LL.M. in Taxation from Boston University School of Law, where she graduated at the top of her class and had the pleasure of speaking at her graduation alongside former U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder.As an attorney, she devoted the early years of her career to public interest law by assisting low-income seniors, disabled students and adults, victims of violence, and homeless families. She worked with court administrators while participating in the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court Commission to Study Racial and Ethnic Bias in the law. In Boston, she managed a civil and criminal free legal clinic and provided outreach, education, and advocacy in the areas of public benefits and consumer protection. She also has a background in tax, corporate, and non-profit accounting. Eventually she transitioned into a private law practice focusing on estate planning, trust administration, tax planning, business planning, and elder law. Professor McLellan has taught a variety of business and tax law courses at Massachusetts School of Law and designed a graduate tax course in estate planning for an online graduate tax program. She is known in the Boston area for her live seminars and radio appearances where she teaches the public on matters of estate planning and taxation.
